Stiftung Maximilianeum
The Maximilianeum Foundation supports highly gifted Bavarian and Palatine high school graduates by providing free board and lodging for a carefree course of study in Munich. As a place of residence, the founder King Maximilian II built the ‘Maximilianeum’ in 1852, a famous Munich landmark, which has been the seat of the Bavarian Parliament since 1949.
Communal life plays an important role for the foundation, which offers joint leisure activities (e.g. sports courses or concert tickets) or for example the organisation of a yearly panel discussion, the "Forum Maximilianeum". Exchange programs with various European universities and a joint study trip enrich the foundation's life interculturally.
The admission procedure begins with a recommendation by the school, assuming that the A- levels and school grades meet certain requirements. This is followed by a multi-stage selection procedure. Approximately 6-8 candidates are accepted each year. This makes the scholarship one of the most prestigious and competitive scholarships in Germany.
